Buckie Shipyard Appoints New Director & General Manager

Buckie Shipyard Limited is pleased to announce the appointment of Colin Taylor as Director and General Manager, effective from the 1 st September, 2008.

Colin, who is 45 years old, commenced his working life as an engineering cadet with Denholm Ship Management then moved to Civil and Marine Ltd where he progressed to the position of Chief Engineer. He then served as Fleet Engineering Superintendent with Charles M Willie & Co Shipping of Cardiff before moving to the RNLI as Technical Surveyor (Machinery) in Ireland and later Scotland before being promoted to Principal Refit Manager based at their headquarters in Poole. During the past 25 years Colin has gained an extensive knowledge of all types of marine craft and the marine industry in general.

One of Colin’s first priorities will be to recruit a new Shipyard Manager to replace Bill Paterson who returned to South Africa at the beginning of the month. This new appointment along with Lewis Duthie, Sales and Estimating Manager, and Steven Lawson, Finance Manager, will form the Management Team at Buckie.

Colin is keen to commence his new employment and with his wide knowledge of the industry and of boats in general he is looking forward to leading the team at Buckie Shipyard and growing the business in the Commercial, Fishing and Leisure markets.

He is looking forward to meeting existing and new customers as soon as he gets settled in.

Colin will be relocating his family to the area in the middle of August in order that he can take over the helm at Buckie Shipyard on the 1 st of September.
